Elder abuse has made the news once again in St. Louis metro area. On January 28, 2015, Betsey Bruce of Fox 2 News did a report about a local man who was accused of neglecting his mother who was living in squalid conditions. In this instance, the elderly woman herself called the police. Once the police inspected the home, they contacted the Missouri Elder Abuse and Neglect Hotline. Betsey interviewed Martha Brown about this on-going crisis concerning the elderly.

This series encompassed events at six different locations in the St. Louis Chapter area. This series featured internationally renowned scientists, authors and educators to provide information and resources about the latest in Alzheimer's early detection, treatment and care.

With a new case developing every 67 seconds, early detection and diagnosis are critical for legal and financial planning, accessing services and support, seeking opportunities for clinical trials and person-centered care among providers.

November 12, 2014

On November 12, 2014, St. Louis' local KMOV TV station aired a broadcast pertaining to a home healthcare worker who is accused of stealing almost $61,000, for her personal use, from her client. In that broadcast, Jasmine Huda, a reporter for KMOV, interviewed Martha Brown about the bond between a client and their caregiver and how easy it is for the client to be taken advantage of.
